Sushi is somewhat in a world of its own. For this reason, some people are intimidated and sometimes shy away from ordering sushi if they're not familiar with what to order. Rest assured, you can eat sushi even if you've never tried it before. Whether you've been eager to try the new Japanese restaurant down the street from your home or you want to impress a date, learn about some of the best go-to beginner options you can order.

1. Inarizushi

Sushi is typically prepared with a seaweed outer layer or shell; however, with inarizushi, tofu is used instead. Before the sushi is prepared the tofu is doubled fried to blend in the flavors. The now crispy tofu is placed into a pot of boiling sauce that is typically sweet. Inarizushi is a popular option for non-fish-eating vegetarians, so there is no fish, just rice.

2. California Roll

The California roll is a longtime staple for sushi beginners. A California roll includes most of the basics, which are crab meat, avocados, and cucumbers. The roll is shaped with seaweed, but the seaweed layer is covered in a blend of rice and sesame seeds, so it shields much of the flavor of the seaweed. If you like each of those choices, you'll love this option.

3. Spicy Tuna Roll

If you're someone who enjoys spicy food and you want to try something new, a spicy tuna roll is a great option for you. The spicy tuna roll contains a small piece of uncooked tuna, that is flavored with sprinkles of scallions and other spices to add some heat. Depending on the restaurant you eat at, the spicy roll might include eel or salmon. But for beginners, the tuna is typically the best starting point.

4. Rainbow Roll

If you want to try a little bit of everything in order to see where your taste buds rest, consider a rainbow roll. A rainbow roll has no shortage of color or flavor. The roll is not rolled in the traditional sushi form, in that the fish is on the outside of the roll, instead of the inside. A rainbow roll typically includes Ebi, salmon, Tai, and tuna. You get a chance to try several different fish at one time.

There are so many different sushi combinations for you to try, you just have to order and get started. While all these options are great for beginners, don't hesitate to order whatever you feel brave enough to try. Go to a Japanese sushi restaurant like House of Kobe to learn more about sushi.

Understanding Proper Cooking Methods

When was the last time you started thinking about cooking? Yesterday, I thought carefully about what I wanted for dinner, and it occurred to me that I needed to check online for some exciting new recipes. I began doing my research to see what was out there, and it was cool to see how many different ideas there were that centered around the same ingredients. I decided to start focusing on food and cooking, and now I have my own little blog all about the topic. Check out these posts to learn what you can do to understand and resolve cooking challenges.
